Landstinget Gävleborg is responsible for public health and medical services. There are six (6) health centres in Sandviken municipality. The national dental health services clinic in Sandviken is at Gävlevägen 80

Care of the elderly
In the municipality services forcare of the elderly include home-help services, homes designed for the elderly and day services.
Special transport services (färdtjänst)
Persons with functional disorders that have been certified by a doctor have the right to special transport services for journeys both within the municipality and in the rest of Sweden.
Flexitraffic
If you are a senior citizen (from and including the month of your 65th birthday) or have the right to färdtjänst, you have the possibility to travel in a more flexible way within some parts of Sandviken - more accessible than normal busses and cheaper than färdtjänst. Flexitraffic operates Monday-Saturday (not on public holidays) between 9:00 and 18:00 .
Senior travel card
All persons who are 65 or older and registered in the county can purchase senior travel cards. The card is personal and is valid for journeys withX-Trafik´s busses and trains and with Tåg i Bergslagen´s trains within the countyofGävleborg. The card can be ordered from X-trafik. A card valid for 2006 costs SEK 1800. After you have ordered your card you can collect it from the nearest postal services locality.
