Österfärnebo skola

Österfärnebo (1500 inhabitants) is situated 160 kilometres north of Stockholm, in beautiful surroundings near the River Dalälven. In the heart of Österfärnebo you will find our school. It is a small school in the countryside, with 20 teachers  and around 200 pupils in the ages 6-16. A large number of the pupils live in small villages quite a distance from our school and arrive here by bus or taxi.

• ... a friendly atmosphere to make our pupils feel confident. We stress the importance of treating each other with care, respect and understanding.
• ... a variety of methods to enable each pupil to develop and succeed in his/her process of learning. We are e.g. influenced by Learner Autonomy, Co-Operative Learning, Montessori and Dunn´s Learning Styles.
• .. .a variety of tools to support and inspire our pupils in their process of learning, e.g. the use of IT from early ages for communication, "research" and  for training of basic skills.
• .....part in the project 1-1, one laptop to each pupil, starting with the eldest pupils
• ...gradual training to encourage our pupils to become responsible, independent and reflective learners.
• ... equal possibilities for all children irrespective of sex, special needs, nationality etc.
• ...foreign languages from early ages. English is taught from the age of eight and opportunity to learn German/Spanish from the age of twelve. We have partner schools in Austria , Romania , England , Scotland , Portugal and Mallorca.
